Project : Cause Cyclothon
Aim : Build awareness and garner support for various projects
Cause Cyclothon- an initiative of Rotary Worli was started in 2014 to promote the various projects undertaken by it.
The first project under banner of Cause Cyclothon was partnered with Sumit Patil of Team Agni to build awareness of the Jaipur Foot project under the tag line ‘One Jaipur Foot for every mile of the RAAM”.
The cause was promoted by sponsoring Ultra Cyclist Sumit Patil at the 2014 Race across America (RAAM) - the World’s toughest Cycle Race. Sumit was the 2nd Indian to participate since 32 years since RAAM started.
Mirza Saaib Beg (lawyer by profession employed with SEBI), Sumit Patil & Pranaya Mohanty (software engineer employed with TCS) will be the cycling face of CAUSE CYCLOTHON and would be spearheading this program.
Cause Cyclothon 2015 was to assist RAHAT MANZIL, an orphanage in Srinagar.
They cycled 1100 kms to Ahmedabad & back in 5 days enroute meeting students in 6 law colleges to spread awareness of the project. Generous donors contributed Rs. 11 lakhs for the cause.
CAUSE CYCLOTHON Jaipur Foot project in 2015 was promoted by covering 525 kms from Manali to Khardungla (highest motorable peak in Leh) covering an average altitude of 17000 ft in less than 72 hours.
Cause Cyclothon March 2016 was an initiative to support education and empowerment of financially needy Law Students, and support their education.
They cycled 3000 kms from Mumbai to Kochi and back covering NALSAR Hyderabad, NLSIU Bengaluru, NUALS KOCHI, V M Salgaokar Law College, Goa. Over Rs. 26 lakhs were collected
