  • Free Book Distribution Camps

Most Schools in Mumbai do not have a Library. Books on various subjects are donated by various Institutes from Canada and USA. However though these books are available free, the challenges to distribute them are many.

Each consignment and Camp involves a lot of manpower and would include:

  1. Receiving of the books from abroad
  2. Unloading the Containers and storing the books
  3. Availability of halls
  4. Transport to the place of Exhibition
  5. Cataloguing of the books with the help of teachers and students
  6. Informing recipients without costly advertisements in newspapers
  7. Re-packing and re-storing the un-distributed books

Despite these challenges our Club has been conducting these Camps on a regular basis, with the help and support of different Schools and Colleges, and their students and Teachers.

The Camps have had from 20,000 to 30,000 books on display, and the books donated free vary from 8,000 to 20,000 at each camp.

The project has been running regularly since 1996 and more than 2,25,000 books have been donated so far to more than 2000 schools and colleges, in and around the city of Mumbai. Schools affiliated with the district of Mumbai avail of this opportunity and choose hundreds of such books for their school library.

Rtn. Rajiv Mehta has been the driving force behind this Project since its inception.
