Project: Intervention at Nareshwadi Center for 700 Warli Tribal children
Aim: Create conducive environment so that each child achieves his or her dream.
Over next 3 years through collaborative efforts with Somaiya group and multiple interventions, we plan to support the process of community development at Nareshwadi Learning Centre, (near Dahanu).
Out of Box thinking:
A unique experiment of donating Mogra sapling to mothers of Warli tribal villages, who earned extra income by selling mogra grown in their backyard, has helped not only achieve zero percent dropout rate of students but also saw the pass percentage rise up to 95%. Most achievers are girls who are first generation learners in their families.
Healthy Eating, Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
As children age, understanding how to effectively practice healthy eating habits needs to be inculcated. As a corollary to sanitation intervention, a new kitchen facility (which will use existing solar power), dining area & material storage facilities will be set up. This will ensure hygienic food preparation at economical cost & reduced wastage of food.
Healthy child: exercise to adolescence:
Set up suitable sports facilities including a running track to harness the potential of children.
Let the wings fly
Through intervention of our partner in service Apni Shala, take up emotional, interpersonal and thinking skills programs as also build young change makers through community projects.
