Rs. 22 lakhs Project for providing 20 Toilet Block at Nareshwadi, Dahanu
A step towards Swacchh Bharat (Clean India) - Changing hygiene & sanitation behavior:
Lack of sanitation facilities in schools contributes to a range of health and environmental problems. Having no toilets is uncomfortable for everyone at schools, but is known to affect girls in particular. The result is that many miss school or stop going altogether.
In consonance with the call made to the Nation, we planned to construct 22 toilet blocks at a School in Nareshwadi Learning Centre (130 Kms from Mumbai), where over 700 Tribal children study. 10 Members of the Club celebrated Independence Day at the School and also inaugurated the Toilet Blocks.
14 more toilets are to be set up within the next three months.
The Project does not entail just building the toilets, but to take the project to the next level of creating awareness of the importance of sanitation, health and hygiene.
Through regular intervention, student’s knowledge, attitude, belief, and practices as well as barriers and motivation to practicing recommended behavior will be checked. The general level of knowledge of hygiene, sanitation including how illness is transmitted will be enhanced. The gap between knowledge and practice will be bridged through various programs.
The Project was possible due to the generous contributions from :
